Greetings from the Keys...Jesus it's Humid.

So, it's Friday now, and we have one more day before returning to hell. I was going to blog a few times this week describing all the stuff we've done, but honestly, I couldn't bring myself to grab the computer. Luckily, we have Wi-Fi at the Tropical Inn, so here we go with a recap of this week.

Sunday- Flew in on a Cessna and got to sit in the co-pilot seat. Great views and the water is absolutely clear. German cabbie took us to hotel. We walked up and down Duval Street, the main thoroughfare of Key West. Visited the Southernmost Point of the continental US, and had dinner at Crabby Dick's. The name alone was worth it although the service was not quite up to par. Sleep.

Monday- Key West has a few beaches but this is not a beach haven. All of the sand was carted in from the Bahamas years ago. Found Higgs Beach, nice sandbar about 50 feet out and a pier to walk out on the water. My lovely wife is a sun worshipper so we spent about 1.5-2 hours basking in the sun. Sufficed to say, my fair skin was crying. Lunch at Willy T's. Visited the Hemingway House, which we both enjoyed...6-toed cats everywhere. Went to Hard Rock Cafe for dinner. I bought a hat for my toasty bald noggin. Sleep.

Tuesday- Lunch at Upper Crust Pizza. Nice. Did a little shopping but I can't bring myself to buy tourist crap. Rented an electric car which is basically a golf cart and tooled around the island, visiting the Key West Cemetery (imagine a New Orleans cemetery), the dock area, and covered most of the island in 2 hours. Dinner at the Hog's Breath Saloon. Visited Mallory Square which is the area where they have nightly sunset celebrations...a bum with a dog that walks on sticks or something, fire-swallowing people, and our favorite of the day, the Great Rondini, this black guy who, while doing escape-artist tricks, told racist jokes and made fun of people. Went to the 802 Bourbon bar, which is also the home for one of Key West's drag queen shows. Saw the show. I must admit it was entertaining, and Kendra got some photos with the draggers. Sleep.

Wednesday- Back to the beach...Kendra believed that she had upset the sun god and wanted to make amends. Spent some more time there, saw baby barracudas and fish called Sergeant Majors. Lunch at Margaritaville, good fish and chips. Dinner at Mr Z's, a cheese steak place. Sleep.

Thursday- Rented a waverunner and took a private tour around the island. Tour guide stopped us and dolphins came up to the surface within 3 feet of us. Stopped at sandbar and a bonnethead shark (imagine a baby hammerhead) came within 6 feet of us standing there. Very fun time. Lunch at Cheeseburger Key West. Walked around Duval Street and looked at some shops. Dinner at Wagon Wheel Bar and Grill. Damn good chicken nachos, damn good.

I will do some other posts about special things we saw and stuff, but this blog will end with a series of things I have noticed while here.

1. Children are allowed in bars. Odd. Mom is getting sloshed at Willy T's and the daughter is just sitting right there next to her watching. Strange. What was especially amusing was how she left the daughter at the bar to walk over and talk to 2 guys sitting next to us whining about how she's had her kid all summer and hasn't been able to have any fun. Awwww, sorry mom, guess you'll have wait to start whoring again until after your unwanted child leaves.

2. 90% of the workers down here are foreign and have been here less than a year. Bartenders are foreign...Ukraine, France, Germany, you name it. Cabbies are foreign (no surprise). Most of them are very nice except the douchebag waiter at Crabby Dicks.

3. The French are still assholes. Went to the Banana Cafe Thursday morning which had received good reviews and was a French style breakfast/lunch cafe. But just like the Bonnie Brittons and Roger Eberts, food critics are worthless. We waited almost 10 minutes and while every employee walked past us at least once, nobody waited on us. It may have been because I was wearing an American flag T-shirt, I just don't know, but it wasn't a pleasant experience. Still don't like the French.

4. It's humid. My gawd, it's humid. I mean, I expected it somewhat because this is a tropical island, but it is very humid day and night. I have been able to eat like a horse with no worries because I sweat out any water weight I may have attained while keeping myself hydrated throughout the day. Still, it's absolutely beautiful and really is an oasis.

5. Bed and breakfasts are awesome. The Tropical Inn has 12 rooms, a pool and a jacuzzi. It is very private, whether you are wanting to lay out by the pool or if you need to have some sexy time. Situated literally in the middle of Duval Street, this place is 15 minutes from Key West's version of Broad Ripple, 15 minutes from the beaches, and so on. It makes me very excite.

6. My wife is hot. It has taken a long time for this wedding to finally happen, but we are both happy about it. So we get down here and she gets all sexy in the bathing suit, and she's fun to look at. She also keeps all the money so I don't blow it all on crap I don't need. She is also darker than most Mexicans now thanks to a constant barrage of sun, so it's kind of exotic...like I'm married to some foreign girl only I don't have to worry about paying to ship her to the US and she speaks English.

I will post pictures from the trip soon. I'm hot, and I'm getting back in the pool.
